Commercial Corridor Beautification in Rochester

by Jen Topa

Last month, our team participated in two great projects that positively impacted two of the commercial corridors that we work on.

On May 5th, the South Clinton Merchants Association (SCMA) organized 25 volunteers to spruce up the avenue after our long winter.  Volunteers picked up trash and debris and the avenue is looking spotless. Swillburger donated tokens and 7-11 donated Slurpee coupons for all volunteers.  The Cinema Theater was our command center, but luckily the weather cooperated so we were able to spend most of the day outside.

On May 10th, a group of volunteers joined forces to plant the 25 planters along East Main Street.  Visions Federal Credit Union donated funds for the plants and Hillside provided the manpower of their grounds crew and snacks to bring this project to reality! SCMA donated the planters to East Main Street last year and we worked hard to complete this beautification project with the support of the community.

Thanks to the support of local businesses and our generous volunteers, both South Clinton and East Main Street are looking forward to a vibrant and beautiful summer. But we are not done! SCMA will be holding a Playful Sidewalk painting event on Saturday, June 23rd between 10:30am-2:00pm.  Please join in on this community building event.  All are welcome!
